The NDP is all for electoral reform, except when pandering to Quebec
National Post: 'Quebec politicians insist that the province must not lose the 78th seat because their MPs are sacred defenders of the French Fact in North America; their insistence on special status is explicit and loud. And so our electoral system is once again tailored to assuage Quebec without any mention of Quebec in the law. This would be suspicious in itself even if the new rules did no injury to the principle of one-man-one-vote, but that is their entire purpose, as a switchblade’s is to stab. And only the permission of the New Democrats, who howl endlessly for proportional representation like horny tomcats, makes this possible.
'At a bare minimum, it should be established that New Democrats can be freely ignored whenever they wave the banner of democracy or propose fundamental changes to its procedure. And now that we mention it, they’re not very New anymore either, are they…?'
