Ontario Liberals' daffy long-term-care plan wouldn't add a single bed

National Post: 'The long-term care promise Liberal leader Steven Del Duca made this week would devastate a sector that is already struggling with inadequate capacity, lack of staff and the after effects of the pandemic.

'Del Duca says that “warehousing” seniors in long-term-care homes was “one of the great mistakes of the 20th century.” To rectify that, he is proposing what would be one of the great mistakes of this century.

'Rather than modernizing existing long-term-care homes and building new ones, as the PC government is doing, Del Duca would spend more than $12 billion to buy out for-profit homes and turn them over to municipal and non-profit operators. This ideologically-driven exercise wouldn’t add a single bed to Ontario’s undersized system, but it would provide an enormous windfall to private companies.'

The Ontario Liberal Party died and it's best value to Canadians is to remain buried.
