One-third of English-speaking Canadians don't see any good in learning dead language

The Western Standard: 'Learning French as a second language makes no sense to a third of English-speaking Canadians, says Blacklock’s Reporter.


'And research by the languages commissioner also found almost half of all people say mandated bilingualism makes no sense in some parts of Canada.


'“Whereas only one in 10 francophones agree with this sentiment, 38% of anglophones agree. Agreement with this notion is also higher among those whose mother tongue is another language (43%), those born outside Canada (41%) and those from racialized groups (47%).”'
