Making dough putting you out of work: As many lost jobs and hours, government workers got raises
Toronto Sun: 'While millions of Canadians lost their jobs, saw their hours cut or had to close businesses during the pandemic, more than 500,000 government employees got raises.
'The federal civil service also grew from 300,450 workers in March 2020 to 319,690 workers in March 2021.
'If you weren’t a government worker, things looked a lot different.
'In February 2020 before the pandemic hit, there were 19.1 million Canadians working, and the unemployment rate stood at 5.6%. By May 2020, the number of people working had dropped to 16.4 million and the unemployment rate stood at a pandemic high of 13.7%.'
