National Post: Our deep-rooted liberty, including “capitalism,” does not scorn virtue. Instead it takes it so seriously that it refuses to render unto Caesar what is God’s. It forbids the state from defining the good life for you, let alone imposing it. It leaves it to us. Hence Magna Carta’s first pledge is not property rights or no taxation without representation, though both are in there. It is freedom of religion.
