Ford says economy a key priority

Toronto Sun: 'Ontario needs to be highly competitive to withstand any negative economic forces from the United States, Premier Doug Ford says.

'In his first media conference since his majority win Thursday, the Premier said the economy and job creation will be a prime focus going forward.

'“You have to create the environment for companies to come here and thrive … so we’re going to have the most competitive jurisdiction anywhere in North America and the world because we’re competing against our friends in the U.S., over in Europe, over in South America, over in Asia,” Ford said Friday.

'Some economists are warning of a period of slower growth in the United States — Ontario’s major trading partner — including a possible recession and ‘stagflation,’ a combination of slower growth and higher inflation.'
