Calgary Sun: 'Over at KidSport Calgary and Area, Kevin Webster is equally passionate about his organization’s vital role in giving underprivileged children in our city a fighting chance at a happy, productive life — by keeping them physically active and involved in whatever sport catches the child’s interest.
'“Sport provides kids with role models, healthy lifestyle habits, a positive outlook and the kind of social connection that can take them into their adult years,” says Webster, the CEO of KidSport Calgary. “Kids are just having fun doing a sport; they don’t realize they are learning lessons that will stay with them the rest of their lives.”
'For a quarter of a century now, KidSport Calgary has been helping struggling local families by providing grants to cover the registration fees of a wide variety of sports, as well as no-cost equipment ranging from basketballs to hockey gear. Its Skate Shacks program allows schools, community organizations and other groups to provide free skate rentals; and through its partnership with the Calgary Flames Sports Bank, it gathers, recycles and redistributes used sports equipment to those kids in need.'
